Compress PDF
Reduce the size of a PDF to make it easier to share and store. The document is re-encoded in your browser with the local pdf engine: pages are drawn down and re-embedded at a quality you choose, while Acrobat-style object streams are used on the text level. Pick strong, balanced or light compression and see exactly how much you save before downloading.
Your files never leave your device. All processing happens on your device. No uploads, ever.

Three strength levels
Strong shrinks most (best for web), Light works best for text-heavy PDFs. The result is a smaller PDF that still opens everywhere.
Quality you control
A quality slider tunes the raster step, so you can balance size against image fidelity for your specific file.
Private by design
Compression happens entirely in your browser — your file is never uploaded or stored anywhere.
Frequently asked questions
How much can I save?
Image-heavy PDFs typically shrink by 50–80%. Text-only PDFs may save little because they're already compact; the tool shows the exact percentage after each run.
Does it change layout?
Each page is re-rendered at the same dimensions, so the visual layout and pagination are preserved. Quality of the images decreases as you compress harder.
Is it safe?
Yes. Compression runs entirely in your browser, your file is never uploaded, and it never touches your original (you can download a new file).
